Professore Alonzo

MICHELE ALONZO, Executive Director

Michele Alonzo was born in Napoli, a Southern Italian city. He graduated in medical school in his hometown and in 1990 came to USA, where he obtained a professional degree in clinical research from University of Cincinnati. In 1991 he started teaching at School Amici and after a year became the Director. For ten years he presented a weekly Italian radio show on WAIF, a local station in Cincinnati. He has a dual citizenship and is a legal translator for the Consulate of Italy in Detroit. He is also the representative of an exchange program for Italian students who attend high school in Ohio. In 2014, he started a partnership with Italian language schools in Siena and Sorrento, where some School Amici students have learned the language in full immersion. Every summer he goes to his house on the Italian riviera. His hobbies are guitar, traveling, photography, astronomy, and soccer.
